Our goal is to contribute to each Papua New Guinean child’s education by providing the best material, curriculum and other support available. In support of our vision we hope to see the children of this country gain access to similar high quality educational materials used in developed nations through the use of the XO machines.
Mission Together with international OLPC, the mission of OLPC PNG is “To provide children in Papua New Guinea with new opportunities to explore new learning. To create educational opportunities for Papua New Guinea’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning”. The Vision
The vision of OLPC PNG is to bring a world of new ideas, images and materials to children in PNG, particularly in the remote and rural schools. PNG students and teachers will be assisted to learn new ways to collaborate, create, and transform works over time. Collaboration will be a fundamental part of learning to ensure that the learning and high-quality education for all is essential to provide a fair, equitable, economically and socially viable society; access to mobile laptops on a sufficient scale provide real benefits for learning and dramatic improvement of education on a national scale. To enable our vision to become a reality, OLPC PNG is committed to sustainability which means creating cluster links in each training centre. This means there is a training team formed to provide ongoing material and curriculum support for students and teachers within each locality. OLPC PNG is committed to providing a most powerful tool for knowledge creation, development, and discovery to children and their teachers with sufficient time and support to enable fluency, and development by providing high-bandwidth connectivity to enable the development of knowledge communities. We are committed to collaborate and form partnerships with government and non-government organisations to make possible high-bandwith conectivity in as many locations as possible. |
